Johnathon Banks Bio
Johnathon was born on June 22, 1982 in Southfield, MI. He is the fifth born of nine children, his parents are Terry and Charlene Banks.
Ecorse, MI is where Johnathon and his brothers and sisters grew up and was educated in Ecorse and Detroit public School Systems. He was a very quiet and eager to learn student who just didn't like hurting anyone's feelings. He got all one's in citizenship and A,B,C and occasionally a D that he felt bad about. He'd always say "Mama, I did my best" later on in the middle and high school year he did excellent. After completing High School Johnathon went on to pursue a degree in Electronics and Computer Technology at N.I.T.
Johnathon enjoys getting together with his brothers and cousins for a good game of basketball during the summer months occasionally and dining with the guys for good conversation and laughs, you'd just have to be there to hear them, he's halarious with the guys. He has three younger sisters that he unconditionally looks out for and advises then often about encounters they may face in the trials of life. He says the older sisters won't listen.
Johnathon is a devout christian young man who attends church services every Sunday and Wednesdays for Bible Class. He is a second tenor in the Word of Truth Youth/Young Adult Choir and also the Mass choir. When he is not away on boxing business, you'll find him in his position on those days. Johnathon is looked up to by a whole lot of young people in the congregation, from little toddlers to young men his age and older. He has great regards for his former Pastor and Grandfather (Rev. Charles Edison) whose leadership he grew up under, who has now retired, and all the same regard and respect for the present pastor, Rev. Rufus Hayes. He consults with the both of them for spiritual guidance and advice when needed. Johnathon stops by the church every day on his way to training just to whisper a prayer in The House of God.
He started practicing the piano in middles school and was doing well, but boxing soon took over and dominated that desire. Having been told by his maternal Grandfather at the age of two weeks old he'd b a great boxer one day, it's like Johnathon heard it and knew already especially the kicking and boxing he did during his mother's pregnancy with him. His mother thought he was playing basketball, but later found out it was boxing. The entire nine months of his mom carrying him, she had called him by the name of Marcus. Marcus was to be his name, but when she was him, she said "he just don't look like a Marcus." Johnathon's mom and dad came up with John, and his mom's dad said "add something with that" and that's how Johnathon got his name.
